Gerald R. Rizzuto

Gerald R. Rizzuto, affectionately known as Scooter, was born on August 11, 1946, in Chicago to Ernest and Eleanor (Boyce) Rizzuto. He passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 79 in Oak Lawn.

After serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, Jerry began a distinguished 30-year career in law enforcement, first with the Blue Island Police Department and later with the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railroad Police Department. On May 23, 1970, he married Joan St. Aubin, the love of his life. Together they raised three children and shared 49 devoted years until Joan’s passing in 2019.

Jerry is survived by his children, Christopher (Lori) Rizzuto, Angela (Joseph) Schmidt, and Luke (Mary Ann) Rizzuto; his grandchildren, Madelyn Rose Rizzuto, Elizabeth Joan Schmidt, Thomas Gerald Schmidt, Aiden Matthew Rizzuto, and Gerald John Rizzuto; his sister-in-law, Anne Rizzuto; and his nieces, Dawn, Debbie, and Jennifer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joan, his infant son Gerald, his brothers Ernest and John Rizzuto, and his sister Sharon Hankins.
