Gastonia, NC
Rev. Gerald Leon Ramsey, age eighty-nine, passed away on March 4, 2026 at CaroMont Regional Hospital in Gastonia, North Carolina. Born on August 28, 1936 in Lancaster, South Carolina, he faithfully served as a Methodist minister in Gaston, Lincoln, and Mecklenburg counties for more than forty years.
He deeply cherished his wife Dottie, along with his family and friends, and offered genuine kindness to everyone he encountered. Gerald found joy in music, caring for his yard, being outdoors, and bringing smiles and laughter to others. He created peace and warmth wherever he went. A steadfast support to his church family, he was a gifted storyteller and passionate preacher who lived out generosity and the unconditional love of Christ.
Service remained central to his life until the end. He continued to give to his church and made the decision to donate his body to medical research at Duke University Medical Center. His remains rest in the Duke Forest on the university campus, a place of peace where he had completed his ministerial education.
He is survived by his wife Dottie and the many lives he touched through his ministry and friendship.
