Gerald 'Jerry' Thomas Speranza, 83, of Guyton, Georgia and husband of Rosemary Bass- Speranza, died Thursday afternoon, March 5, 2026, at his home.

He was born in Lafferty, Ohio, on June 9, 1942, to his late parents Cateten Anthony Speranza and Elena Marie Thomas Speranza.

During the Vietnam Era, Gerald proudly served in the United States Army. Following his service, he earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering and went on to build a successful career as an engineer and millwright. Gerald also ran his own business before retiring. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Henry County Moose Lodge #2170.

Jerry enjoyed woodworking and building things with his hands. He was a trivia expert. He really loved fishing and hunting.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Speranza; his grandson, Taven Speranza; his brothers, Anthony and Reynold Speranza; and his sister, Marie Speranza.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of twenty-two years, Rosemary Bass-Speranza; daughters, Andrea Speranza; Lisa Ware, Shelly (Brad) Reed and sons Rodney (Diana) Wallace, and Larry Bass; 22 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sister; Carol Speranza, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and the many memories he shared with those who knew and loved him.
