Berenger, 78, of Brick, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Mattison Crossing in Freehold Borough. He was born and raised in Plainfield and lived in Lakewood, Freehold Township, and Point Pleasant before settling in Brick in 2010.Jerry was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, pheasant and deer hunting, and shooting skeet at Salomon's. A talented musician, he played the coronet in the Salvation Army Brass Band and even traveled to Europe as a teenager with the band.Jerry was also an avid fan of the NY Football Giants and the NY Yankees and was a faithful watcher of Jeopardy every night. In his spare time, he loved fixing and tinkering with things and liked to consider himself a hot dog aficionado.He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Barbara Berenger; daughter, Laura Sturgis; son, Michael Berenger; one sister, six brothers; and his grandson, Robert Berenger. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Debra Berenger; daughter, Judy Fallon and her husband, Patrick; sons, Jeremy Berenger and his partner, Nicole, Charles Berenger and Daniel Berenger; son-in-law, Robert Sturgis; grandchildren, Sean Fallon, Alexander Fallon, John DeCaro, Kaitlyn Sturgis, Joseph Berenger and Jianna Berenger; and brothers, Larry Berenger and Kenny Berenger.Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, 454 Tennent Road, Manalapan. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Brass Band, 1738 Route 37 East, Toms River, NJ 08753.
