Gerald B. Hilliard

1948 — 2026

Rochester Hills, MI

Gerald B. Hilliard, affectionately known as Jerry, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on November 17, 1948, he was a beloved and familiar presence in the Rochester Hills community for more than three decades as the owner of Tower of Pizza. There, he created more than a restaurant; he built a warm gathering place where his dedication to his customers and his unforgettable pizza made him a local landmark. Jerry was also a cherished regular at OPC, where he formed many lasting friendships.

Jerry lived with a vibrant and unmistakable zest for life. Each summer, he proudly participated in the Woodward Dream Cruise with his beloved 1979 Trans Am, taking great joy in sharing the classic car with others. He was known for his independent spirit, famously wearing shorts year-round regardless of Michigan winters. Above all, he took immense pride in his annual Christmas light display, which transformed his home into a neighborhood beacon affectionately called the “Gingerbread House,” bringing wonder and joy to countless families each holiday season.

Above everything, Jerry’s greatest pride was his family. He was the devoted husband of Loretta for 50 beautiful years. He was the beloved father of Christie (Ben) Hilliard and Jerry (Billie) Hilliard, the proud grandfather of Alex and Jacob Harrison and Deegan Hilliard, and the dear brother of Terry (Kim), Richard (Kris), and the late Martin (Terry) Hilliard. He was also a caring stepfather to Suzanne Schleyer, Denise (Ken) Sanders, Phillip Achrem, Kenneth (Sue) Achrem, and Keith (Tracie) Achrem.

Jerry leaves behind a legacy of hard work, community spirit, and the simple joys he embraced so fully.
