George William Neal, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.
Born in Rockingham County to the late Robert and Anne Neal, George retired from MacField, later known as Unifi, after 30 years of dedicated service. An avid outdoorsman, he found great joy in hunting and fishing, and he lovingly passed his passion for fishing on to his son. He was also an enthusiastic fan of jeep racing and NASCAR, with Dale Earnhardt Sr. as his favorite driver. A proud MOPAR man, George had a lifelong appreciation for big Hemi motors. He could often be found relaxing in his recliner with his beloved cat, Squirrel Girl. Above all, he cherished his cats and his family, and those who knew him were never quite sure which he loved more.
Preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Neal, his sister-in-law Terry Neal, and his granddaughter Angel Neal, George is survived by his son, Kenneth “Kenny” Neal (Brittany “Big Sweetie” Harrison); his granddaughter, Olivia “Little Sweetie” Neal; his siblings, Becky LePrade, Walter Neal, and Robert Neal III (Donna); his darling ex-wife, whom he affectionately called Mary Ann; his nieces and nephews, Andrea, Stephanie, Ally, Brooke, Robert Allen, Emma, Eli, Cameron, Allison, Bryan (Leela), and Bryson; and a large and loving extended family and circle of friends.
