George W Shanks Jr.

George William Shanks Jr. passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2026, after a courageous battle with stage IV cancer of the liver and lymph nodes. He was born August 23, 1945, in Rogersville, Tennessee to William Shanks and Fern (nee. Davenport) Spears.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn Shanks; grandson, Tom Taylor; both his parents, Fern Spears and William Shanks; and sisters, Annie Cromer, Virgie Ratliff, and Linda Rose.

He is survived by his son, Ken Shanks; daughters, Michelle Taylor Davis and Heather Mendoza; along with seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to join the family on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 N. Ridge Road E., Sheffield Township. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. A procession will follow to his final resting place at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Marilyn.
