He was 67 years old.George was born in Brockton and grew up in Bridgewater. He was a 1976 graduate of Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School where he first began nurturing his life-long passion for music in the school band. He started out playing the trumpet, then quickly tried his hand at the keyboard and guitar. George became a talented lyricist over time and even played in several local bands.He worked many different jobs over the years. One of his most notable positions was running the print shop at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Up until his diagnosis with glioblastoma, George worked at Marty's Fine Wine and Liquor in Newtonville for nine years. During his time there, George made many long-lasting connections with his coworkers and customers.During his free time, George continued to immerse himself in his love for music, and his passion for cooking. He liked to casually research and read up on Native American history and culture. As a boy, he was a proud member of his Boy Scout Troop 72.George was fun-loving and dedicated and devoted to his loved ones and his interests. He will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.George is predeceased by his father, George W. Gardner, Sr., his sister Mary E. Fitzgerald, and his uncle Chester Gardner.He is survived by his devoted companion of 22 years, Denise McCoy. He was the loving son of Alice M. Burns (Young). Cherished father of Kevin Gardner, Kristin Gardner, Eleni Gardner, and Miles Gardner, and grandfather of eight grandchildren. Devoted brother of Michael A. Gardner, William B. Burns, John A. Burns, Kathleen A. Burns, and Jennifer A. Burns. Beloved nephew of Alan Gardner, Charlotte Blanchard, and Marcia Hall. Loyal friend of Bruce Peaslee and Kevin Baker.Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Thursday, March 19th, 2026 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 98 Bedford Street, Bridgewater, MA 02324 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
