George Trafton

Emerson, MB

George Trafton passed away on March 11, 2026, at the Altona Memorial Health Centre. Born on June 11, 1942, he was raised in Fort Rouge alongside his brothers Walter (Joanne) and John (Shirley). He was predeceased by his parents, Gord and Ruth Trafton, his first wife Diane Trafton, and their daughter Leslie Trafton.

George retired after 25 years as a teacher at Sargent Park School, where his dedication, care, and passion left a lasting impression on his students. A loving husband to Diane and devoted father to Leslie (Curtis), Nancy, and John, he spent countless hours at arenas, soccer fields, and baseball diamonds coaching and cheering on his children. He cherished his role as grandfather to Jeremy and Joshua, teaching them to skate, walking them to daycare each morning, and sharing in their playful moments.

In later years, George found love again with Iris, and together they moved to Emerson, where they embraced a quieter life. He became part of a large extended family that included Sharon, Francis, Lynn, Patrick, and many grandchildren. George will be remembered through the lives of those he loved, living on in their eyes, their minds, and their acts of kindness.
