George Thomas “Tom” Perry, age 68, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Born in Gainesville, Georgia on December 12, 1957, Tom was the son of the late James Howard Perry and Rebecca Ann Brown Perry. A proud graduate of Habersham Central High School, Class of 1975, he went on to serve his country in the United States Navy as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class. His dedicated service earned him the Sea Service Ribbon and the Navy Expeditionary Medal.
After his time in the Navy, Tom continued his education at Piedmont College, where he earned a Master’s Degree in History and Psychology. While in college, he also played on the baseball team, blending his passion for sports with his academic pursuits. In his personal life, Tom found joy in the outdoors, particularly through hunting, and in working with his hands as a skilled woodworker. He was remembered for his quiet strength, his deep respect for nature, and the quiet pride he took in caring for his family.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his great-grandson Jasper Gallahan, and his niece Courtney Cash. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Michelle Wilson Perry; daughters and son-in-law, Amanda Renee Weaver (Michael) and Kim Medlock; sister, Anne Perry Cash; grandchildren, Landon Weaver, Jared Edwards, Ava Daniel, Jessie Loudermilk, and Morgan Loudermilk; nephew, Kyle Cash and his family; along with other extended relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
