Peru, IN
George Thomas Foster, 89, of Peru, Indiana, passed away at his home on March 11, 2026. Born on October 8, 1936, in Logansport, Indiana, he was raised by his grandmother, Edith Wood. He married the love of his life, Karin Roller, on December 24, 1958, at Walton Christian Church in Walton, Indiana.
A proud U.S. Navy veteran who served four years, George cherished his time in the service. Upon returning home, he built a long and dedicated career at General Tire in Wabash, retiring as a computer operator. A faithful member of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ, he centered his life around family, community, and simple pleasures. He rarely missed his grandchildren’s sporting events and could always be found in the stands, especially on Friday nights at high school basketball games. A devoted Chicago Cubs and Indiana University basketball fan, he cheered with unwavering enthusiasm. He enjoyed bowling, tackling jigsaw puzzles without ever looking at the box, and playing games with a competitive spirit. Known for his humor, quick wit, and endless supply of sayings, George brought laughter wherever he went. Frugal and meticulous, he collected coins and arranged them by date, and together with his wife, he was an active member of a euchre club. Above all, he was a steadfast, loving, and present family man.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karin Foster of Peru; three children, Tim (Beth MacConnell) Foster of Cocoa, Florida, Greg (Martha) Foster of Amboy, Indiana, and Karin Lynn (Kraig) Stanforth of Parker, Colorado; nine grandchildren, Michael (Sherri) Foster, Tabitha (Myron) Thompson, Serenity (Jordan) Neal, Gregory (Sarah) Foster II, Brandon Foster, Jordon (Heather) Foster, Kaylee (Reid) Winegar, Maddie (Danno) Rude, and Travis (Audrey) Stanforth; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two half sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, one great-granddaughter, two brothers, one sister, and one half brother.
