George Ronald Rogan

June 12, 1944 March 2, 2026

Atlanta, GA

George Ronald Rogan lived 81 joyous and beautiful years on earth before passing into Heaven on March 2, 2026.

Born on June 12, 1944, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, to James and Ethel Rogan, George was the eldest of eleven children. After enlisting in the U.S. Armed Forces early in life, he served in Georgia, where he met his life partner, Jay Neely. The two settled together in Atlanta, building a home and a life rooted in love and commitment.

A passionate and gentle soul, George dedicated his career to the education system, working with individuals with special needs. He remained deeply connected to his far-flung family, maintaining close ties from British Columbia to Florida while most of his relatives remained in Pennsylvania. Those who knew him remember him as classy, comical, and steadfastly devoted to family.

He is survived by nine of his eleven siblings: James Rogan, Sandra Williams, William Rogan, Ethel Judge, Patricia Ferguson, Michael Rogan, Irene Kulick, Mary Brennan, and John Rogan; many nieces and nephews; his daughter, Lisa Smith; his grandchildren, Harley, Seth, Joshua, Isabelle, and Debra; and his soon-to-be-born first great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his life partner, Jay Neely; his parents, James and Ethel Rogan; and his sister, Debra Rogan Bettuccio.
