George Richard Gabriel

George Richard Gabriel, 79, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, passed away on February 27, 2026, at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts, after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Karen (D’Aloisio) Gabriel, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 8, 1946, he was the son of the late George A. Gabriel and the late Gladys (Gerold) Gabriel. Raised and educated in Queens, New York, he graduated from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from The Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, now NYU Tandon School of Engineering, and a master’s degree in industrial engineering from Newark College of Engineering, now the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

He worked for 27 years in various engineering positions at Union Carbide. Following his retirement, he proudly served the Town of Newtown, Connecticut, as a Justice of the Peace. He had lived in Tiverton, Rhode Island, for the past 25 years.

In addition to his wife Karen, he leaves his children, Nancy K. Cifune and her husband Edward S. Cifune, and Raymond G. Gabriel. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Kimberly A. Gabriel. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Edward G. Cifune, Regina N. Cifune, Olivia A. Gabriel, and Ava E. Gabriel.
