George Stanley ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Saul Colonial Home on Mar. 12, 2026.George Phillip Stanley, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and esteemed architect, will be remembered with deep reverence after his passing on March 11, 2026, at Arden Courts of Allentown, Pennsylvania at the age of 94.Born on April 18, 1931, in New York, New York, George's journey through life began as one filled with commitment to his education and service to his country. A Stuyvesant High School alumnus, he would go on to graduate from Columbia University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, igniting his lifelong passion for design and innovation. George imparted his knowledge to future architects as an Adjunct Professor for the NYC College of Technology (CUNY), enriching the lives of his students and nurturing their dreams.A proud veteran, George served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a platoon leader, receiving the National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), Korean Service Medal (KSM), and the United Nations Service Medal (UNSM).. His dedication and leadership during this pivotal time reflected his unwavering love for his country.After his honorable discharge, he devoted nearly four decades to the US Army Corps of Engineers. Before retiring as the Chief Architect, NorthEast Division, over the years George and his team worked on varied, significant projects such as at the United States Military Academy (West Point), the Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst (formerly McGuire Air Force base), the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (NASA) in Hunstville, Alabama, as well as serving a critical role in the support and preparation for the Second Gulf War, overseas at Weisbaden, Germany. Among his proudest achievements as a civilian was the collaborative creation of a community in Port Jervis, New York.George's life was rich with moments of joy, especially in the company of his family. More than anything, George cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As you gather to celebrate George's remarkable life, we honor his legacy of service, love, and unwavering strength.He is predeceased by his parents, George Phillip and Blanche Stanley; his beloved wife, Clara (Browne) Stanley; daughter, Patrice Stanley; grandson, Gregory Stanley; and sister, Joan Taylor. His legacy continues through his children, George P. and Moira Stanley of Middletown, NJ, Frances and William Chattin of Kutztown, PA, Ann and Andrew Griffin of Fair Haven, NJ, David Stanley and John Aromando of Clinton, MA, John Stanley of Cornwall, PA, and Robert Stanley and Elvalidia Mena; as well as his seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts.Visitation for family and friends will take place on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Saul Colonial Home, located at 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690. Military honors by the U.S. Army will be offered at 1:30 p.m. at the Brigadier General William C.
