Lemke, age 83, of Gleason, WI, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at UW Health Hospital in Madison, WI, following complications from a stroke. George was born in Wausau, WI, on April 20, 1942, to the late Robert and Emma (Feddick) Lemke. He was married to Janice St. Clair on April 22, 1972; she passed away in 2016.George was a 1960 graduate of Mosinee High School. Following graduation, he served in the National Guard and attended the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point where he earned his bachelor's degree in Natural Resources. After college, he worked for Case in Wausau until the plant closed. He later began a long career at the WPS Power Plant in Weston, WI, where he worked for many years before retiring at the age of 62 to enjoy his dream of living on Bass Lake in Harrison Hills.George had a deep love for the outdoors and spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and trapping. He especially enjoyed sharing those experiences with family and friends, always having an open door at the lake. Known by many as a master tinkerer, he was happiest putzing on and inventing things with his brother Stu. In his younger years, he enjoyed racing his stock car and playing hockey, and later in life he remained an avid fan of both sports.Survivors include his daughters, Ann (Paul) Sodke, of Mosinee, WI, and Jean (Jason Kraus) Lemke, of Gleason, WI; his brother, Stuart (Melody Chambers) Lemke, of Gleason, WI; and his sister-in-law, Carol Lemke, of Huntsville, AL. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Jacie (Dustin) Kellner, Jennifer Sodke, and Tyler Lemke; and his great-grandson, Leo Kellner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Emma; his wife, Janice; and his brother, Ron Lemke.A visitation for George Lemke will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at Generations Funeral Home with Military Tribute beginning at 12:50 PM. A celebration of life and sharing favorite "George Stories" will continue at Bottoms Up Bar & Grill from 1:30 PM until 4:00 PM. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
