George H. Donker

George H. Donker, 92, of Port Reading, New Jersey, passed away on March 10, 2026. Born on May 5, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, to George G. and Jennie Donker, he graduated from Cooley High School in 1951. In 1953, he enlisted in the Army during the Korean War and served in Germany until 1956.

Upon returning to Detroit, George married Judy Maurer, the love of his life, in 1959. Together they shared 65 years of marriage until Judy’s passing in 2024. They raised five children and created a lifetime of memories traveling to Germany, Hawaii, and the Outer Banks, hosting dinner parties with friends, and gathering often with family for barbecues, games, and laughter. George earned a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University, attended the Detroit Institute of Technology, and later pursued a master’s degree program at Ohio State University.

George began his career with Schering-Plough in 1962 as a Pharmaceutical Representative in Detroit. In 1978 he was promoted to District Manager of the Columbus, Ohio region, and in 1983 he moved to Kenilworth, New Jersey, as Director of Military Sales. This role allowed him to travel extensively across the United States and internationally. In later years, he served as president of the Jersey Shore Harley Owners Group, organizing scenic motorcycle rides through New Jersey and Pennsylvania’s covered bridges, as well as the Rolling Thunder rides to Washington, D.C., and charitable rides benefiting Ronald McDonald House.

Above all, George was happiest as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He had a deep passion for dogs, travel, and motorcycles, and was known for his humor, honesty, integrity, and kindness. He thrived when faced with challenges and problem-solving opportunities. He is survived by his children Cheryl Lacey of Durand, Michigan, Pamela Thompson and her husband Craig of Middletown, New Jersey, George Donker and his wife Tina of Coweta, Oklahoma, Kris Donker and his wife Cathy of Parkland, Florida, and Tracy Blitzer and her husband Chuck of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law Barbara Lewis, Brad and Todd Lewis. A private family celebration of life for Judy and George will be held later this year.
