George Grey Sheppard, born on December 10, 1966, in Okinawa, Japan passed away on March 4, 2026, in Abita Springs, Louisiana. He leaves behind a loving family and friends who will deeply miss him.
George is survived by his wife, Sunny (Sonya), his son Matthew (Heather Lewis), his mother, Shizuko Takaesu Sheppard, and his sister Cassie Sheppard (Brian Arthur). George was preceded in death by his father, Elmer George Sheppard.
George is also survived by his nieces; Quinta Mendoza (Tyler), Queen Collins (Andrew), and Stacey Reilly (Jeremy Sauvinet), as well as his nephews; Ryan Reilly, Chase McDougal (Kalysta), Alex McDougal, and Brad McDougal (Elizabeth) also his great-nieces; Ava Reilly, Reina Collins, Emery Reilly, and his great-nephews; Jaxon Collins, & Matthew George Mendoza. All will remember him fondly and all were deeply cherished by Uncle G. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Dawn Reilly (Tom) and Twilla Sorensen (Kurt), and brother-in-law, Billy McDougal (Annette).
George was a faithful, dedicated and successful employee of 35 years for Southern Glazer's where he was well respected and admired by his co-workers & customers, and where he made many friends.
George had a passion for Crown Royal, NASCAR and The New Orleans Saints, His contributions to both his work, his friends, and especially his family have left a legacy and a lasting impact.
A Celebration of Life honoring George will take place on March 14, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Wrong Iron On The Greenway, located at 3532 Toulouse St, New Orleans, LA 70119.As George would say, I’ll have double Crown and water, tall glass with a lot of ice.Cheers to you, George!
