George Edward Lopez went to his eternal home on Friday, March 13, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. George "Eddie" was born on March 4, 1934 in Longview, Texas. He met the love of his life, Gayle, and married her on May 31st, 1955. Together they endured all hardships with the help of their faith and trust in God. That same faith they planted in their 7 children's hearts. George was baptized and received the Holy Ghost in August 1965 which led to his lifelong relationship with Jesus, which became his testimony. He was blessed with a musical talent that he used for the Lord, which led to his album Top of the Cross in 1969. This brought a life long friendship with Pastor Jacob and Carol Wommer and the Lighthouse Church.Eddie retired from Advanced Ross Steel after 17 years as a machinist. He was known for always having a new joke to tell, love for food, being Dolly Partons and John Waynes #1 fan. He was always dressed to impress and his hair never aged. He took pride in his large family and became known as "Pappy" by many. George "Eddie" Lopez is reunited with his parents, Esther and Concepcion Lopez, his beloved wife, Gayle Grimes, brother and sisters- Daniel, Margaret, and Anita Lopez. Brother in laws, Houston and Bryant Grimes, and Harold Driver. Daughter in love Sadie Lopez. He is survived by his children— Raymond Sammy Conn Lopez, Donald Edward Lopez, Evelyn Louise Lopez (Kelly Hutchison), Larry Dean Lopez (Donna), Anthony (Tony) Lopez (Karen), Melissa Lopez, Martin (Charlie) Lee Lopez (Monica). His brothers—Anthony (Tony) Lopez (Jane), David Lopez (Wanda) He also leaves behind over 18 grandchildren, over 40 great grandchildren, and over 5 great great grandchildren, many nephews, nieces, and several others. He also leaves behind many friends.A visitation will be held at the Lighthouse church in Liberty City this Friday, March 20, 2026 from 5:00pm until 8:00 pm. His funeral service will be the following day, Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the same location at 2:00 pm. Pappy wanted to thank everyone for praying and visiting him, that he loves you and not to grieve for him because he is finally going home. Be happy, rejoice, and see you later.
