George E. Hanna, age 94, of Celina, passed away peacefully at his home on March 14, 2026. Born on March 15, 1931, in Celina to the late Garnet and Daisy (Norris) Hanna, he was a 1949 graduate of Celina High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War era.
George married Mattie (Martin) Hanna, who preceded him in death. On November 15, 2007, he married Linda (Cooke Hegemann) Hanna, who survives him in Celina. He is also survived by his children and grandchildren: Tammy (Rex) Spence of Celina and their children, Kyle and Aaron; Heath (Julie) Hegemann of Minster and their children, Austin and Wesley; Hope (Joe) Rethman of Maria Stein and their children, Mitch, Matt, Molly, and Marcus; and Holly (Rod) Frericks of Minster and their children, Cody and Dustin. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, with one more expected soon.
A gifted pilot and talented mechanic, George co-owned Lakefield Airport in Montezuma and managed the airport in Van Wert earlier in his career. He later retired from Case Leasing in Celina after many years as a semi mechanic. He took great pride in his ability to work on automobiles, semi-trucks, and airplanes alike, continuing to practice the trade he loved well into retirement at age 75.
An active member of New Life Christian Center in Celina, George cherished his family above all and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Carl Hanna, Vernis Hanna, Clifford Hanna, Dale Hanna, Dorothy West, Virginia McGee, and Mary Meeds.
