Herman, 76, beloved husband of Paula (Lacey) Herman, passed away Wednesday March 11, 2026, at his home in Avon. Born in Dodge City, Kansas he grew up primarily in Wichita and Augusta, Kansas. In 1969, George and Paula met at a National Science Foundation program in Colorado and they were married in 1970.George was a graduate of Wichita State University and in 1970, George was named by Wichita State University as one of four "Senior Honor Men" and received a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship and a summer grant to conduct research in British Honduras (now Belize). After a brief stint teaching statistics, he focused on the development and marketing of STEM programs.In 1978, he moved to Avon and became a long-time member of the Golf Club of Avon. He is predeceased by his parents, George and Alta. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Paula, and two daughters, Elizabeth (Brian Shaver) and Katherine. A Memorial gathering may be planned at a time and place to be announced. Memorial donations may be made to the House of Bread, 27 Chestnut Street, Hartford, CT 06120.
