George A. Neely

George A. Neely, age 79, of Rockford, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Born in Amboy, Illinois, on September 25, 1946, to Harold and Miriam Neely (Stubblefield), he was a beloved son, brother, and dear friend who will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

George was a patron of the arts who found joy in the natural world and quiet walks along pathways. He spent many contented hours watching television and listening to music on the radio. Above all, he possessed a keen appreciation for the culinary offerings at Elmwood, where he relished his meals and especially enjoyed rich chocolate milk paired with Cheetos. Those closest to him cherished his playful spirit, his habit of tapping his foot to rock-and-roll music, and his remarkable ability to navigate his surroundings with confidence and grace.

He is survived by many dear family members and friends at Milestone Inc. George was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Leland and Susan Neely.
