Georgann McCaleb
August 28, 1936— March 5, 2026
Edmond, OK
Georgann (Whatoff) McCaleb, beloved “Meemee,” passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on August 28, 1936, in Oklahoma City to George and Rachel Whatoff, she graduated from Classen High School and attended Oklahoma State University for two years. At sixteen she met the love of her life, Neal A. McCaleb, and they married on November 25, 1955. Their 69-year marriage was a deep and joyful partnership; he was her roots and she was his sunshine. Together they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, in 1965 and raised four children: Kevin B. McCaleb, Kathleen (Katie) McCaleb Turner, Caleb G. McCaleb, and Adam N. McCaleb.
A woman of vibrant faith, Georgann centered her life on her relationship with Jesus from childhood onward. She and Neal were longtime members of First Christian Church and later Edmond Church of Christ. As a wife, mother, and homemaker, she filled her home with love, gratitude, joy, and unconditional acceptance, creating a place of peace and belonging for family, friends, and anyone who needed refuge. Her greatest delight was gathering loved ones and celebrating even the smallest moments. A gifted party planner with a quick wit, dazzling smile, and signature red lipstick and nails, she made everyone feel seen, valued, and important. She lived by the simple rule she taught her family: “If you think something nice, you say it.”
Georgann took great pride in supporting Neal throughout his political career and public service. She loved shopping and gift-giving, turning Christmas into a season of abundant generosity that reflected her warm and giving spirit. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Neal, her son Adam McCaleb, and sisters Cynthia Whatoff and Stephanie Joyce.
She is survived by her sisters Lynne Murphy, Carol Rudkin, and Angela Whatoff; her children Kevin McCaleb and co-parent Cindy Clemshire, Katie McCaleb Turner and husband Bryan Kim Turner, and Caleb McCaleb and wife Terri McCaleb; sixteen grandchildren and their partners; twelve great-grandchildren; and many emotionally adopted children and grandchildren who found a place in her heart. The family also holds special love and appreciation for Cecilia Aviles, whom Georgann cherished as a daughter, along with Cecilia’s husband Juan and their children Catherine, Michael, and Seth.
