Geno James Porter Jr. was born on March 1, 1960, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Leanna James of Memphis, Tennessee, and the late Geno Porter of Winton, North Carolina. As the sixth of seven brothers, Geno grew up in a family that valued resilience, loyalty, and a strong sense of togetherness. His early years included a stint in the Army National Guard. He was honorably discharged after a brief period of service, and his distinctive shades-paired with ever-changing, stylish frames-became a defining signature of his vibrant personality.Geno completed his education at Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester, proudly earning his diploma. As a young adult, he discovered a deep passion for the worlds of insurance and pharmaceuticals-an enduring interest that would shape much of his life's work. This enthusiasm guided him to a fulfilling career with renowned companies such as McKesson, Robin Pharmaceutical, Boston Mutual, and John Hancock. Outside of his professional life, Geno's love for the arts illuminated his conversations, friendships, and everyday interactions, infusing joy and creativity into his world.Geno is survived by his three beloved children: his son Geno Porter and his family, and his two daughters, Shalena and Gena Porter, along with their respective families. He also leaves behind his brothers Edwin, Stephen, Leroy, Mark, Ray, and his sister Bernice Woodley. In addition, a wide network of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends remember him with warmth, admiration, and gratitude for the life he shared with them.He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers Carl Porter and Preston Porter, and his nieces Jane Woodley and Jannell Gonsalves.Geno Porter's legacy lives on in the memories he created, the love he gave, and the enduring impact of his professional contributions and artistic spirit. May he rest in peace, forever in our hearts.
