General Smith

General Smith of Middletown, Ohio, passed away on March 12, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on May 22, 1946, to James and Lulu Smith, he was the beloved husband of Phyllis (nee Veith) Smith and the late Florencie (nee Collett) Smith. He was the loving father of Karen (Gene) Cain, Carol (Roy) Smith, and the late Kimberly Francis, and a caring stepfather to Justin Gee and Jonathan (Deborah) Gee. He was a devoted grandfather to Harold (Crystal) Vaughn, Toni (Ethan) Wolfe, Justin Francis, Dylan Francis, Jonathan Gee, Ezekiel Gee, Elijah Gee, Stella Gee, and the late Joshua Vaughn and Michael Salyers, and a proud great-grandfather to Will Wolfe, Jazzy Wolfe, Dallas Pierce, Wesley Vaughn, Cade Francis, Kimberlee Francis, Aubree Francis, Lucas Francis, and the late Cheyenne Vaughn. He was the dear brother of the late Ramon Smith, Lewis Smith, and Nora Rogers.

General found deep contentment in the outdoors, spending many peaceful hours fishing on the water and enjoying the excitement of a good hunt. He had a profound appreciation for gospel bluegrass music, which brought him comfort and joy throughout his life. He cherished traveling to churches with his family, where he found meaning in worship, fellowship, and the simple pleasure of time spent together on the road. Above all, his faith and his family remained the center of his world.
