February 20, 1950 March 9, 2026

Leesburg, IN

Gene Marshall, age 76, of Leesburg, passed away on March 9, 2026, from surgical complications at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born on February 20, 1950, to Walter and Helen Deatsman, she was a lifelong resident of Leesburg. She graduated with the first class of Warsaw High School in 1969 and married her husband, Charles “Chuck” Marshall, on May 30, 1971.

Gene was known for her warmth, humor, and deep dedication to family and friends. She worked as a bank teller at Lake City Bank, Mutual Bank, and Key Bank, while also contributing her time and energy to her family’s farm in Leesburg. Her vibrant personality and playful teasing endeared her to many. She was always willing to lend a hand and made a lasting impact through her longtime involvement with the Leesburg Mighty Farmers 4-H club. Gene found joy in driving her Polaris Razor, expressed her creativity through quilting, and was a devoted Indiana Hoosiers basketball fan who quietly cheered for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in support of her son-in-law.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck Marshall of Leesburg; her children, Trishell (James) Smith of Warsaw and Kimberly (Jason) Bledsoe of Warsaw; her cherished grandchildren, Zachary Smith, Isabelle Smith, Kerstin Bledsoe, and Hallie Bledsoe; her siblings, Ross (Lana) Deatsman of Leesburg and Max (Gina) Deatsman of Leesburg; and her beloved dog, Oliver. She was preceded in death by her parents and her dogs, Streaky and Rufus.
