Gene A. Briggs "Bud"

1935 — 2026

Gene Briggs, affectionately known as Bud, passed away at the age of 90 after a full and beautiful life. He spent his childhood with his beloved mother and his nine brothers and sisters. He served several years in the Army National Guard before choosing to leave the military to marry the love of his life, Mary Lou, in 1958.

Together they built a family of four daughters. Bud worked hard to provide for them while always making time for his great passion for baseball. He spent countless hours on the ball field playing and coaching, embodying a spirit of perseverance and never giving up. Though he hung up his glove in his early sixties, his love for the game never faded. A devoted Yankees and lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes fan, he took great joy in cheering for his teams.

After 54 years of marriage, Bud lost his beloved Mary Lou in 2012. He remained in the home he had built many years earlier, surrounded by his family. In his final years, even as his health declined, his spirit remained strong and his love for his family unwavering.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, his wife Mary Lou, and his daughter Cindy Allegretti. He is survived by his daughters Julie Briggs (Gregg Harper), Kimberly Otten (Kevin), and Nicole Corbin (Justin); his grandchildren Dustin, Bryan, Nicholas, and Kolten; several great-grandchildren; and many loving cousins and friends.
