Gay Roy ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Mission Park Funeral Chapels Cherry Ridge on Mar. 16, 2026.Our beloved mother, Gay Nell Roy, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on March 10, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 85 after enduring & battling Lewy Body Dementia for several years. Gay was born on December 4, 1940 to Charles & Fay Roberts. Mama Roy, as many came to call her, was a mother, friend and career woman who dedicated so much of her life to raising her daughters. She was the heart of our family, known for her unwavering strength and courageous steps forging a lovely & happy life for herself and her girls.Gay was born in New Orleans, LA and lived in several small towns in South Texas before her parents settled in East Texas when she was entering the fourth grade. Gay and her sisters all attended Gladewater High School. She was a Majorette, Band Sweetheart and a Class Favorite throughout those years and a part of the graduating Class of 1959. Gay went on to be a Kilgore College Rangerette before completing her Business degree at North Texas State University, now known University of North Texas. Gay met her husband to be, Gary Roy, while in college and they began their married life in Irving, Texas. Gay & Gary had their daughters Brandi & Casey in Irving before moving to Scottsdale, Arizona. Gay and the girls moved back to Texas and settled in Carrollton, Texas in 1979. Gay resided in Carrollton while working full time in a growing technology company as an Executive Assistant as well as several years with Southwest Airlines in the office of Special Communications and keeping a busy schedule with 2 growing girls throughout their college years as a single mom. After her girls graduated from college, she became a flight attendant with US Airways at the age of 58 and enjoyed traveling the domestic US and international destinations for many years. She shared her love of traveling with her daughter Brandi who has been a flight Attendant with Southwest Airlines for 30 plus years. Upon retiring from the airline, Gay moved to San Antonio to join her daughter Casey's interior design firm. Gay handled meeting with all of the fabric and material sales reps and maintained a meticulously organized materials library along with wearing many other hats in the small firm, one of which included walking the rescue dogs that came to the office each day. All of the pups in the office quickly loved Gay as she always gave them so much extra love and so many treats. Gay enjoyed caring for & loving on the many rescue pups that her daughter would foster through SNIPSA & Footbridge Foundation in San Antonio. Gay's "grandchildren" were precious rescue dogs & cats from both of her daughters. Gay formed a special bond with one particular Pug named Petunia. These two were besties from the start as they each had both a sassy and sweet personality. You could see Petunia and Gay driving to work each day and wonder who was actually driving as Petunia sat perched in her lap with paws on the steering wheel the whole way! Gay loved gardening, cooking & baking, sewing, college football, decorating, shopping and had talents in making any craft look professionally made. She was creative, smart, shy although you would not know it, giving, tenacious, sassy, resolute, instinctual and one of the coolest mom's ever as proclaimed by her girls' childhood friends!Gay was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia several years ago and managed to keep the majority of her symptoms at bay and for a while she was able to still live at home and continue to come to work. In 2025, sadly the disease began to take over her mind and body. Gay lived her remaining months at The Haven in Stone Oak where she was well cared for and allowed to flourish within a safe environment. We are so grateful for the care & compassion she received there by all of the dedicated staff and her personal care giver, Cheyenne Castro Sifuentes. She is survived by her loving daughters, Brandi C. Roy and Casey L. Roy of San Antonio, all of her beloved 4- legged grandbabies, wonderful friends & colleagues at Casey Roy Design, Framed and Citrine Home, nieces Kelly Dishman of Grand Prairie, Cathy Clendenen Russo of Duncanville, Terry Longoria (Ron Longoria) of Bryan, Lisa Winkler (JR Winkler) of Temple. She is preceded in death by her mother Fay Aileen Jetton Roberts, father Charles Raymond Roberts, her sister Alice Kay Clendenen & brother-in law James Clendenen, her sister Pattie Rene Dishman & brother-in law Danny Dishman and nephew James R.
