Gary Wade Shinliver

April 10, 1951 March 9, 2026

Wichita, KS

Gary Shinliver passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He faced his illness with remarkable perseverance and grace, ultimately finding peace in the knowledge that he would be reunited in heaven with his daughter Stacy and other loved ones who had gone before him.

A devoted servant of God, Gary lived his faith daily through prayer, adoration, and tireless service to others. He volunteered extensively at his church, served in the Knights of Columbus as District Deputy, and was a member of the Kansas Knights of Columbus State Leadership Team, where he held roles as Youth Activities Chairman and Free Throw Chairman. He also served as an RCIA sponsor, guiding thirteen people into the Catholic faith, and gave generously of his time at the Lord’s Diner while helping neighbors and anyone in need.

Gary was deeply involved in his community and family life. He coached basketball, football, and softball, mentored young athletes, and volunteered countless hours at TRYC softball fields, where he served on the board and coached his daughter’s team. He cherished his family, rarely missing his grandchildren’s games, concerts, or activities. Raised on a farm, he never lost his love for the land and continued helping on his uncle’s, brother’s, and nephews’ farms throughout his life. In retirement, after working at Coleman, Cessna, Boeing, and Spirit, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and traveling with friends.

He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, children Stanley Wade Shinliver and Jessica Renae (Tony) Kargbo, sisters Cheryl (Dave) Donelan and Sanka (Gerald) Hornecker, brother Dennis (Shirley) Shinliver, grandchildren Keauna (Tristan Larson) Caine, Maddelyn Cranmer, Preston, Landon and Allana Kargbo, and Addyson Cranmer, great-grandchildren Grace, Charles and Lincoln Larson, and sisters-in-law Shirlene, Donna and Beth Shinliver. He was preceded in death by his daughter Stacy Renae Shinliver and brothers Randy, Greg and Danny Shinliver.

Gary touched countless lives through his kindness, generosity, and unwavering willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
