Gary Snipes, Sr.

Gary Wayne Snipes, Sr., age 77, of Lancaster, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026. Born on September 2, 1948, he was the son of the late Sam Snipes and the late Azalee Robinson Snipes. He was the loving husband of Linda Harris Snipes. Known affectionately as “Bubba” to family and friends, Gary was deeply loved by all who knew him. He found joy in swimming, visiting the beach, cutting grass, spending time outdoors, tinkering with old cars and trucks, and attending car shows. A man of quiet faith, he was a member of Liberty Freewill Baptist Church in Lancaster and an honorary member of Crosspoint Church in Myrtle Beach, where he faithfully served as an usher.

Gary is survived by his wife, Linda Snipes; his son, Rev. Gary Wayne Snipes, Jr. and his wife Julie; his granddaughter, Kendal Whitaker and her husband Greyson; his great-granddaughter, Annemarie Whitaker; his sister, Lois Roberts; his close nephew, Donnie Snipes; and special family members Stephen Catledge and his wife Carrie, and Austin Catledge, along with other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Azalee Snipes, and his siblings, Larry Snipes, Paul Snipes, David Snipes, and Effie Snipes.
