Gary Lubinski, 83, of Ten Mile, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he grew up between Hawaii and Tennessee. He graduated from Bartlett High School in Memphis and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Christian Brothers University. Gary proudly served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1964 to 1968. His professional life began at NASA and continued with the Tennessee Valley Authority until his retirement in 1991.
A loving husband and father, Gary cherished traveling with his wife, Virginia, and spending time near the water. His favorite place was their home on the lake in Ten Mile, Tennessee, which he affectionately called his “home port.”
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Lubinski; children, Dena Brown (Steve), Wendy Elliott, April Ingram, Bryan Mathews, Terry Mathews, and Tracy Mathews; grandchildren Hannah, Emily, Braeden, Addison, Joshua, and Samantha; and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ski and Beverly Lubinski, his sister Sandy Anderson, and his stepson Barry Mathews.
In his honor, his family encourages others to take the scenic route home and enjoy the views along the way. A private family celebration will be held.
