Gary Lee Allen, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home in Ridott, IL on Friday, March 6, 2026. Gary was born May 10, 1944 in Sterling, IL, the son of Dwight E. & Kathleen P. (Healey) Allen. Gary grew up working on the family Black Angus Farm. Gary met Sandra Sue Helman in 1965 and they married later that year. They spent their years building a wonderful life and family. Gary loved country living and taking care of his land. Gary enjoyed outdoor activities such as bicycle rides with family, tree planting, stargazing and fishing. Gary was a humble hardworking man but always showed love to his family and made sure they were taken care of. Gary worked nearly 40 years at Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. Bubblegum and licorice were his favorite treats and he enjoyed a strong cup of black coffee.

Gary joins his wife Sandra in heaven, and is proceeded in death by his parents Dwight & Kay and his brother Eugene. Gary is survived and missed dearly by his children Tina Janssen; Jeffrey Allen; Gary Bradley (Lori) Allen; Lisa Love; Christopher Allen; brother-in-law Joe (Eleanor) Helman; grandchildren Kyle; Courtney; Casey; Brittany; Ashton; Destiny; Dustin; great-grandchildren Carter; Addison; Zoey; Zayden; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Private family services have been scheduled for later this month. Gary will be laid to rest with his wife Sandra and several family members at North Grove Evangelical Cemetery of Leaf River, IL.
