Gary Lang

Gary Lang lived a life marked by purpose and determination. Born in Sidney on Vancouver Island in January 1944 and raised in Chilliwack, British Columbia, he went on to study at the University of Bristol in England, where he met Gillian. The couple married in Chilliwack in 1968 and together raised their daughters, Jennifer and Vanessa, in White Rock, Ladner, and Tsawwassen. In the early 2000s, Gary settled in Victoria, making his home in a heritage house in Fernwood.
Throughout his years, Gary’s passions centred on antiques, fine furniture, the restoration and care of heritage homes, and distinctive classic cars. He had an keen eye for a good deal and approached life with generosity, kindness, tenacity, and a strong sense of justice. Those who knew him well also remember his fondness for a well-timed practical joke.
Gary passed on his own terms on October 24, 2025, surrounded by his immediate family. He is survived by his wife Gillian and their daughters Jennifer and Vanessa. A Celebration of Shenanigans is planned for the afternoon of Saturday, April 4th in Victoria, British Columbia.
