Gary James Rasmussen

Gary James Rasmussen passed away on March 8, 2026 at Riverview Health Centre, surrounded by his family. After many years of courageous struggle with kidney cancer, he fought to remain with those he loved most, achieving one of his final goals by celebrating his 54th wedding anniversary on February 26th with his beloved wife.

Gary is lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years and soul mate, Barbara Rasmussen. He leaves behind his children and their families: son Shane Rasmussen (Alaine) and their children Samantha Rasmussen (Airel) with Rhylynn and Abel, Alic Rasmussen (Emelie), Jesse Rasmussen (Patience) with Olive and Orion, and Reese Rasmussen; son Todd Rasmussen (Jenifer) and their children Tyler, Cole, Alyssa, Dice, and Jessica; and daughter Krista Staruch (Tony) with Kelly and Tjay. He is also survived by his brother Fred Johnson (Kim) and their family, the Harrison brothers and sisters—Elaine Wilson (Murray), Melvin Harrison (Maxine), Cherlyn Cain (Dennis), Gordon Harrison (Janice), Kathy Campbell (Colin), Maureen Harrison, and Susan Harrison—along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Gary was predeceased by his parents Clayton Rasmussen, Bill and Phyllis Johnson, and Charlotte and Elymer Harrison, as well as Wayne Harrison, Elaine Harrison, his grandchild Stephanie Rasmussen, and great-grandchildren Greyson Trach and Daniel Warren.

He will be remembered for his unwavering love and deep devotion to his family.
