Gary Hollis Emery, 73, of Fremont, Ohio, passed away on March 11, 2026 at Elmwood Communities in Fremont. Born on May 9, 1952 in Fremont, he was the son of Gale H. and Bonita (Hoff) Emery. A 1970 graduate of Clyde-Green Springs High School, Gary served in the United States Navy from 1971 to 1974 during the Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic aboard the USS Midway. His service earned him the National Defense Medal, Meritorious Commendation, Vietnam Campaign Medal, AF Expeditionary Medal (Korea), and Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star.
On October 6, 1990, Gary married Lynn (LeJeune) Emery in Fremont, who survives him. He worked at Vickery Environmental for thirty-seven years before retiring in 2011 and also served for many years in maintenance at Victory Church. A devoted member of Journey Church, Gary contributed his time and energy to various committees. He found joy in woodworking, gardening, and canning. Those who knew him remember his sense of humor, his peaceful nature, his strong work ethic, and his remarkable patience.
Gary is survived by his wife, Lynn Emery of Fremont; his children, Greg (Rachael Adams) Emery of Worlingworth, England, Kelly (Linda Coberly) Emery of Chicago, Illinois, and Ben (Ellen) Emery of Burgoon, Ohio; his stepsons, Eli Fausey of Helena, Ohio and Ross Fausey of Fremont; his grandchildren, Will Fausey, Montana Emery, Wilson Emery, Waylon Fausey, and Jane Emery; and his siblings, Rae Ann Brooks of Indianapolis, Indiana, Mitchell (Marie) Emery of Maumee, Ohio, Dana (Lena) Emery of Green Springs, Ohio, and Brian (Lori) Emery of Delaware, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents.
