Phoenix, AZ

Phoenix, Arizona - Gary Dean Brown passed away on March 5, 2026 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born July 3rd, 1932 in Fountain, Colorado to Rue and Lester Orville Brown. He spent most of his childhood in Loa, Utah where his love for airplanes and flying was born. He graduated from Wayne County High School in 1950.

After graduating, Gary enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 which lead to meeting his wife of 67 years, Marjorie, in Liverpool, England.

Gary was an aircraft mechanic in the military. He was deployed to Pleiku, Vietnam in 1968 where he made sure the aircraft were ready for action. He and his family lived on many Air Force bases during his 22 year military career including England Air Force Base in Alexandria, Louisiana.

After retiring from the military, he still loved airplanes and flying. He became a private pilot buying his own airplane and also organized air shows around southern Utah.

When his mother, Rue Brown, needed help running her store in Loa, Gary spent many years doing just that. He was such a tremendous son.

He loved to travel, especially to the UK, loved to go fishing and most of all, loved his wife and family. Truly a wonderful man!

Gary is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Peoria, Arizona, daughters Catherine Bills of Glendale, Arizona and Carolyn Wuerger (Michael) of Las Vegas, Nevada, grandchildren Allison Chizek (Chris), Lauren Bills, Kenneth Rapson and Boo Wuerger, great grandchildren Daniel, Trenton and Carson.

Burial will be under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.

A Celebration of Life with Military Honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the United States Air Force Honor Guard will be held at a later date in Loa, Utah.
