Gary Baranek

Gary passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 9, 2026 at the Carriage House Nursing Home at the age of 87. Born to the late Edmund and Elaine (LaPan) Baranek on June 29, 1938 in Bay City, he was a longtime member of Corpus Christi Parish and the Knights of Columbus. A proud United States Army veteran, Gary began his career as an electrician with Spark Electric and later retired from General Motors. He found great joy in his dogs, playing guitar, pickleball, blooper ball, and even the simple pleasure of cutting his grass.

He is survived by his children, Christina (Bill) Girtman, Gary (Karla) Baranek, Anthony (Stephanie) Baranek, Antoinette Baranek, Tina Baranek, and Paulette (Joel) Krauss; his grandchildren, Adam Klemm, Morgan Baranek, Carter and Charlie Callahan, Jachob Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Jackson Krauss, and Josslyn LaVanway; and his special friend, Paula Rice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Baranek; his children, Kirk Baranek and Patty Ann Baranek; and his brother, Jay (Pat) Baranek.
