Amelong passed away on March 13, 2026, one day after the passing of his beloved wife, Eileen Amelong, who died on March 12, 2026. Married for more than 60 years, Gary and Eileen shared a lifetime of love, family, and devotion to one another.Eileen was born November 17, 1941, the daughter of Urban H. and Olga M. (Evans) McLafferty. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who kept her household running with care and dedication while raising their four sons.Gary was born July 17, 1941, the son of Ralph J. and Louis (Babb) Amelong. Gary worked for more than 20 years as a Construction Manager before opening his own concrete construction business. Through hard work and determination, he successfully ran the business for many years before passing it on to his son.Together, Gary and Eileen built a life centered around family. They raised four sons and took great pride in watching their family grow through the years. They enjoyed traveling together, especially to tropical destinations such as the Bahamas, Mexico, and Hawaii. They also shared many happy times bowling, playing tennis, and simply enjoying life side by side.Gary and Eileen are lovingly remembered by their sons, Stephen (Tammy) Amelong, Paul (Janelle) Amelong, and Jason (Sherrie) Amelong; and their eight cherished grandchildren.They were preceded in death by their son, Gary Amelong, Jr.Eileen is also preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Leola Geiser; and her brothers, Edwin McLafferty and Daniel McLafferty. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Stabile; and sisters-in-law, Donna McLafferty and Shirley McLafferty.Gary is also preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Theresa Amelong.
