Gary Allen Timmons

Gary Allen Timmons, 86, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on March 6, 2026. Born on July 15, 1939, Gary lived a life centered on family, fitness, and the simple joys of being together.

He loved weightlifting and spending time at the gym. He enjoyed watching UFC fights with his grandson Chris and looked forward to family reunions where he played softball and football and caught up with those he loved. Gary treasured his trips to Texas to visit family and held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. His love for family and friends was steadfast and deeply felt.

He is survived by his daughters, Jeri Lynn Taylor and Tracey Rae Lloyd; his sister, Sue Burns; grandsons Christopher Coleman, Joshua Brown, and Joseph Brown; granddaughters Jamie Lynn Dickerson and Toni Nicole Taylor, both of Texas; nine great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Don and Elnora (Gyles) Timmons, and his sisters Sheryl Smith-Barr and Judith Hazelbaker. A celebration of life will be held at a later date so that extended family and friends can gather to honor him.
