Savannah, GA

Garry Joseph Patrick, age 56, passed away unexpectedly earlier this week in Reidsville, Georgia. He was born September 15, 1969, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia to George Condon and Neila Condon.

Garry was raised in Sydney where he was educated at Christian Brothers. He was a talented athlete and excelled in rugby and squash throughout his school years.

At the age of 18, Garry joined the Royal Australian Navy where he received a degree in engineering. He later served in the SAS. He was honorably discharged from the Navy after serving six years.

Garry met Laura Boyers, the love of his life, in Kauai, Hawaii in 2001, while both of them were working for US Motivation. The two married in Melbourne, Australia in 2002.

While working for Pier 35 Melbourne, Victoria, Garry rescued Anthony de Facto’s wife from a burning boat explosion. Garry was honored with the Group Bravery Citation from the Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia.

Soon thereafter, the couple returned to the states. Because of Garry’s love for the coast, he and Laura settled in Savannah, Georgia.

Garry joined Old Town Trolley as the Depot Sales Manager in 2010. After three successful years in the role and recognizing the need for stability and growth in the Ghosts & Gravestones program, Garry volunteered to become the Program Manager. Garry also worked in the Groups and Charters Department and previously served as the Assistant General Manager of Old Town Trolley Tours of Savannah. At the time of Garry’s death, he was serving as the General Manager of Old Town Trolley Tours.

In addition to his position at Old Town Trolley Tours, Garry was a talented welder. Over the past two years, Garry welded a number of ornate steel gates that are displayed at the Savannah Pirates Museum.

In a Facebook post, Savannah Mayor Van Johnson wrote that “Garry was a valued member of our community and a tourism leader who helped welcome millions of visitors to our beautiful city. With his quick wit and bright disposition, I enjoyed seeing him out and about.”

Garry was a former chairman and member of the SAMMI board, and a board member of Visit Savannah, where he was to serve as incoming chairman next year. Garry was also a board member of the Savannah Waterfront Association.

While Garry’s work was demanding, he remained enthusiastically devoted to his family.

With twins, Garry and Laura worked as a team to make sure their children were involved in afterschool activities. Garry often took his son Wade to football practice and stayed to encourage him. In his precious spare time, Garry and Wade enjoyed fishing together. Then there was his daughter Zara, the apple of his eye. Zara not only shared her father’s wit but also his love for music. Garry even took it upon himself to sign her up for piano lessons.

Garry was his wife’s dedicated sounding board. He provided encouragement and instilled confidence in Laura as she progressed through her career. He was a very involved dad who helped with transporting children and even preparing the evening meal while Laura was still working. He took pride in watching Laura juggle motherhood and work.

Family time was the highlight of Garry’s weekends. Whether it was hanging out at their pool, playing outside with the children, or going out to dinner with the entire family, Garry was always present as a loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Laura Patrick; his daughters Stephanie Reid and Emily Byrne of Melbourne, Australia; his and Laura’s twins Zara and Wade Patrick.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of the Glennville Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Lyons officiating. Interment will be in the Glennville Memorial Gardens following the funeral.

Pallbearers will be Jason Tucker, Brant Brown, Michael T. Owens, Joseph Marinelli, Charlie Barzil, and Jim Rafferty.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
