Garrett Lynn Baker

October 3, 1957 March 8, 2026

Dalton, GA

Garrett Lynn Baker, 68, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away at his home on March 8, 2026. Born on October 3, 1957, in Knox County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Clyde “Buster” and Lena Mae Baker. He grew up in Harlan, Kentucky, and attended Harlan Independent Schools.

From an early age, Garrett possessed a restless curiosity about people and the world. As a young man he hitchhiked across the United States, driven by a desire to experience life beyond the hills of eastern Kentucky. He remained an avid reader throughout his life, cultivating a broad knowledge of many subjects and delighting in deep, thoughtful conversations, especially on philosophical themes.

Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Steve Baker and Leon Baker, Garrett is survived by his sister, Michelle L. Browning of Harlan, Kentucky; his brothers Robert L. Baker (Lisa) of Dalton, Georgia, and Clyde Baker Jr. (Barbara) of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; and his twin brother, Michael G. Baker of Dalton, Georgia. He also leaves behind his dear longtime friend Angela Fulghum, along with many aunts, cousins, and friends who will remember his keen intellect and singular spirit.

Per his wishes, Garrett was cremated and no formal service will be held. His family invites those who knew him to honor his memory in their own meaningful way.
