Garlon E Lesley

July 29, 1933 March 13, 2026

Idabel, OK

Garlon E. Lesley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma, at the age of 92. Born on July 29, 1933, in Sentinel, Oklahoma, to William Zack Lesley and Gertrude Speaks, he lived a life defined by quiet dedication to his family, his country, and his community.

At the age of 17, Garlon enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a Military Police officer during the Korean War. His sense of duty and honor guided him through those years and remained a cornerstone of his character. After his military service, he built a long career as a professional truck driver, earning respect for his strong work ethic and reliability. He retired at the age of 70, grateful to spend his later years closer to those he loved.

Garlon cherished time with his family above all else. He looked forward to family dinners and gatherings, where laughter and stories wove together generations. He found simple pleasures in watching Western movies, dining out, and helping others whenever he could. He especially treasured the moments spent with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the special joy his great-great-grandchildren brought him. Independent until the age of 89, he carried a spirit of resilience and kindness that touched everyone around him.

He is survived by his daughter Joan Lesley of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; his son Michael Eugene Lesley of Idabel, Oklahoma; and his daughter Peggy Garden and son-in-law Ollie Carden of Valliant, Oklahoma. He also leaves behind five grandchildren—Shawn Farley, Shane Farley, Shandon Farley, Chichota Carden, and Mary Carden—along with seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. His values and love continue through each of them.
