Gail Lane King passed away with her family by her side on March 13, 2026. Born in Akron, Ohio, she graduated from Roosevelt Senior High School in Kent, Ohio, and went on to attend Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, where she earned her degree in education, graduating magna cum laude. She taught for two years in East Palestine, Ohio before marrying the love of her life, Richard King, in 1976. Together they built a home and business, King’s Auto Repair, in Kent, and raised two daughters.
A devoted member of the Nazarene church, Gail served on the board and poured her energy into children’s ministries. She found her deepest joy in family, especially in her role as grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Dorothy Lane; her husband, Richard King; her father- and mother-in-law, Richard and Elizabeth King; and her brother-in-law, Ed Myers.
She is survived by her daughters, Beth (Joe) Klinger of Burbank, California, and Katie (Charlie) Russ of Park Ridge, Illinois; her twin sister, Gaye Goff; her sister, Becky Myers; and her brother-in-law, Rob (Renee) King. She leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Max, JJ, and Lauren Klinger, and Charlie, Jake, and Molly Russ. Gail was a guiding star and moral compass for her family, whose best qualities will continue to reflect her light.
