Gail Johnson Clary, 78, of Wayne County, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026. An Appling County native and graduate of Appling County High School, she met her husband, Revis Clary, on a blind date. The couple shared 54 years of marriage and built their life together in Wayne County as devoted partners in both family and business. Gail was a woman of deep Christian faith who cherished hard work and the bonds of family.
She was a beloved wife, mother, and Grannie whose favorite pastimes included reading, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren. Gail was preceded in death by her husband, Revis Clary; her son, James E. “Eddie” Clary; her grandsons, James Decoda Clary and Zachery Reddish; her parents, James “Jimbo” and Ovedia Johnson; her brother, J.W. Johnson; and her sister, Linda Wilkerson.
She is survived by her children, Shnelda (Brad) Reddish, Archie (Beth) Clary, Lana (Pat) Carter, and Ginger (Dwayne) Havard, and daughter-in-law, Rikki Clary. She was a proud grandmother to Ethan Reddish, John Taylor (Bekah) Clary, Madilyn Clary, Ada Clary, Sarah Hayden Sellers, Dr. Seth Clary, Aaron (Jill) Clary, J. P. Carter, Gracie (Derrin) Cox, and Abigail and Hannah Havard, and she leaves behind nine great-grandchildren. Her extended family includes her brothers, Kenny (Bonnie) Johnson and Timmy Johnson; her sisters, Wilma (Richard) Scarborough and Beth Howard; her brothers-in-law, Samuel Clary and Kelly (Jane) Clary; her sister-in-law, Eleanor (Mad) Harvey; and many nieces and nephews who will carry forward her memory of faith, love, and quiet strength.
