Gail Jean Oiler

1950 — 2026

Benton Harbor, MI

Gail Jean Oiler, 75, of Benton Harbor, Michigan, passed away on March 11, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

A graduate of Lakeshore High School, Gail devoted her life to her family as a stay-at-home mother. She married Paul Oiler on June 22, 1975, and together they raised their children, Karlis Hardesty of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Keith Oiler of Goshen, Indiana, and Regena Oiler of Benton Harbor. Gail’s greatest joy came from her role as grandmother to Ariona, Xena, Karlis Jr., Kristen, Nathan, Erin, Zoie, Megan, and Emi, and as great-grandmother to Ryleigh, Justice, Elliott, and Gracelynn. She was joyfully awaiting the arrival of two more great-grandchildren who will carry forward her loving legacy.

Gail is survived by her brothers Charles Merril of Missouri and Douglas Smith of Benton Harbor, and her sister Deana Roetzel of Benton Harbor. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Norma Smith; her brother Richard Merril; her sisters Sherry Dorris and Susan Lavanway; and her granddaughter Mi’yah Oiler.

Gail’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
