Freida Sharon Edwards
April 2, 1945— March 10, 2026
Greenfield, IN
Freida Sharon Edwards, 80, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, surrounded by family at Springhurst Health Campus. Born on April 2, 1945, in Anniston, Alabama, to William F. and Estelle (Knighton) LaPointe, Freida was known for her outgoing personality and her ability to befriend anyone she met. A kind and loving soul who spoke her mind, she was also a gifted storyteller who took great pride in her family.
Freida spent much of her working life in the service industry, primarily at Western Electric. Later, she embraced the role of stay-at-home grandmother, earning the cherished name “Mona.” She created lasting memories with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing family stories and photographs with everyone she encountered. An avid Elvis Presley enthusiast, she maintained an impressive collection of memorabilia that brought her much joy. In 2022, she became a resident at Springhurst Health Campus, where she quickly adopted every staff member and fellow resident as her own extended family.
Freida is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Shea Goodpaster of Carthage; grandchildren Savannah of Knightstown, Spencer (Rose) of Peru, and Gracie of Spiceland; great-grandchildren Avery and Hudson Cox; and niece Lynn Boeke. She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Edwards; her sister, Sandra Spencer; and her niece, Donna Augaitis.
Her family will forever feel her absence, yet they find comfort knowing she has been welcomed into her eternal home, reunited with her heavenly Father.
