Freida McClatchey-Beene

Freida McClatchey-Beene was born in Gary, Indiana, on May 19, 1958, to Lela Spurlock and Willie McClatchey. She attended Froebel High School and Ivy Tech Community College. On June 5, 1999, she married Robert Lee Beene. Later in life, she moved to Indianapolis to be closer to her family.

Freida had a vibrant spirit and loved to dance, joke, and prepare delicious meals. She cherished time with her daughters, taking them shopping and teaching them how to cook. A pillar in her family, she was known for her wisdom and charisma, and those around her often sought her advice. She lived her life to the fullest.

She passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kerida Ellis and Bristina Perkins, both of Indianapolis; one loving and devoted brother, Ronnie McClatchey of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two sisters, Prencie Spurlock of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Bertha Wright of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
