Frederick Bennett ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Beth Israel Memorial Chapel - Delray Beach on Mar. 7, 2026.Fred Bennett, born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, born March 18th, 1937, son of the late Charles and late Helen Benowits, late brother Arnold Bennett.He is survived by his wife Rosalind Bennett, daughter Julie Bennett Pere and husband David Pere, son Michael Bennett and his wife Bonnie Bennett. He was blessed with 6 grandsons, Brett Pere and his wife Drew, Adam Pere, Brady Pere and his wife Natalie, Kevin Pere, and Dylan and Shawn Bennett. In addition he has 2 great-grandchildren Sophie and Casey Pere.In 1969, Fred and Roz moved to New Jersey and raised their family there until he retired in 1995. Fred was a teacher and supervisor by profession, coached many little league, softball and basketball teams. He was a camp and waterfront director and spent many happy summers enjoying the outdoors.He loved sports with his favorite teams being the Yankees, NY Giants, Knicks and later in life, he became a Florida Panthers fan. He also played many sports throughout his life, stickball, tennis, swimming and golf. He spent many years contributing his umpiring skills to local Palm Beach County baseball teams.After his retirement in 1995, Fred and Roz moved to Florida and travelled the world together, including many trips with their children and grandchildren.Fred was a family person and also had many extended family members he was close to. In addition, Fred had many lifelong friends.A chapel service will be held at 11am on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 5808 W. Atlantic Avenue Delray Beach, FL 33484.Entombment will follow at 12:15pm at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens,11520 State Road 7 Boynton Beach, FL 33473.In lieu of flowers, charitable donations to Shriner's Children's Hospital in St. Louis are preferred in honor of his grandson Shawn's success story. Contributions to an Alzheimer's Foundation would be appreciated as well.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
