A gathering for friends and family will be held from 2-4pm, Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Iles Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines, Iowa. Private burial will be at a later date at Glendale Cemetery.Fred was born in Des Moines, Iowa on September 8, 1961, to William Knudson and Patricia (Griffin) Roark. He graduated from North High School. He worked for The Chicago and North Western / Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years and retired as a locomotive engineer.Fred loved his loyal pet "Buster" and in his younger years enjoyed fishing and boating.Fred is survived by his brothers, Thomas (Shelly) Knudson and John Knudson; nephew, Josh (Trish) Knudson; nieces, Bailey (Elliott) Sheriff and Aubrey Knudson (Billy See); great nieces, Norah and Sage Sheriff and his step daughter, Olivia Meline (Matt Gardner).
