Freddie Jay Earles

Freddie Jay Earles, 82, departed this world into the great unknown, March 12, 2026 at 10:50 p.m. after a brief stay at Hospice of Miami County. He was born September 30, 1943 in Troy, Ohio. He was the fourth child to his late parents, Frederick Waite and Valis (Fliehman) Earles.Surviving family include his wife, Linda (Webb) Earles, their only daughter Tracy (Joseph) Thobe, grandchildren Olivia (Matthew) McCawley, Natalie (Christopher) Jackson, and Alexander (Aimee) Thobe, and soon to be great-grandchild baby Jackson. Brother Howard (Carol) Earles and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his brother Wayne Keith Earles, his sister and brother-in-law Leota (Arthur) Middleton and nieces Gloria Middleton VanZant and Tina Middleton Pridemore.As a young boy, Fred grew up running the streets of Tipp City doing bad boy things – finding unlocked locks, smoking used cigarettes and riding trains.A graduate of Tippecanoe High School in 1961 he met his partner in adventure, Linda Webb, a country girl he brought to the big city. They married December 14, 1964 in Nashville, Oh. With life's ups and downs, trials and tribulation they forged a beautiful life together for nearly 63 years.Freddie has worked for Fred Haas Signs, McCauley Propeller and after 40 years of service, retired from B.F. Goodrich, Troy, Ohio in 2005 where he started on the production floor, moved to foreman and eventually wrote routings for the manufacture of airplane wheels and brakes.Throughout his life, Freddie enjoyed golfing, bowling, travel and was a voracious reader. He has visited every state in the nation except Alaska. He was Master Quilt Cutter and could be found driving Miss Daisy to quilt shows.He was a loving and supportive father. He helped to raise a strong, confident woman who can do hard things. He greatly appreciated the kindness and care his son-in-law showed to him. He was a constant presence in the lives of his grandchildren and took immense pride in their activities and accomplishments.Freddie was strong in character, had a giving heart and a quick wit. He could make conversation with anyone and take a nap anywhere. He was always up for a good challenge when it came to fixing, building or coming up with a creative solution to get'r done.As he would always say – Tell'm you know me, it won't do you a bit of good.At Fred's request there will be a private graveside service to be held at a later date.For those who wish to honor Fred, please contribute to:Ohio's Hospice of Miami County3230 N.
