Weatherford, TX

Freda Ann Petersen, born Freda Ann Brown on October 30, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Fred and Callie Brown, passed away on March 10, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Donald James Petersen, whom she married on April 2, 1973, in Denton, Texas. Together they made their home in Weatherford, Texas, where Freda lived for more than four decades, raising her family and nurturing the community around her.

With her lifelong best friend, Lani Bush, Freda owned and operated Heavenly Creations and Crafts, a thrift store that became a warm gathering place for many. She also worked for many years in management at News American Marketing before retiring. An avid traveler, she explored places such as the mountains of Alaska and the vibrant culture of Taiwan, embracing each journey with curiosity and joy. At home she found pleasure in drawing, painting, playing mahjong, and watching her favorite game shows, always staying closely connected to those she loved.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara Belding. She is survived by her husband, Donald James Petersen; her five children and their families: Cindy (Gordon) Baker and grandchildren Holly (Ryan) Leitru and Sarah Baker; Sandra (Steven) Turner and grandchildren Stevie Turner, Sam (Rebecca) Turner, and Sean (Chaimae) Turner; Greg (Chao-Hui Lin) Rendall and grandchildren Alex and Elisha Rendall; Donny (Whitney) Petersen and grandchildren Zoe and Edie Petersen; Chris (Yolanda) Petersen and grandchildren Layla and Christian Petersen; four great-grandchildren, Ian, Carter, and Lilly Leitru, and Farris Turner; and her dear friend Lani Bush, who was family in every way that mattered.

Known for her strong opinions and steady presence, Freda showed her love through consistency and quiet devotion. She was fiercely herself—stubborn, sharp, and deeply loyal to those who mattered. Her family will carry the warmth of her particular ways, her competitive spirit at the card table, and the quiet strength she brought to their lives. She will be remembered always.
